It’s still early in the SpotBowl season, which means details about specific commercials are hard to come by. Among those elusive details are the celebrity cameos, which are my most favorite details of them all.
In fact, the only celeb we can confirm so far is Stephen Colbert, who will appear in two spots for Wonderful Pistachios. That’s great news, especially considering that last year’s Wonderful Pistachios spot featured Psy who, by then, was well past his “Gangham Style” expiration date.
It’s unclear if the Colbert ads will be in the same vein as previous quirky celebrity ads in the Wonderful Pistachios campaign. Indications are that they won’t be, because Colbert has inked a year-long contract with the brand and the new campaign is called “Get Crackin’, America.”
Said Colbert with his signature sarcasm in a news release: “Since I was a child, I’ve dreamed of working with America’s premier nut company. The fact that it turns out to be the good folks at Wonderful Pistachios is just the pistachio on top of the ice cream sundae.”
